Northlink Ferries operates several routes linking mainland Scotland with the Scottish islands of Orkney and Shetland. Operated by Serco since July 2012, most routes depart from Aberdeen, though a ferry service from Scrabster to Stromness is also available. Journey time is 90 minutes for the journey from Scrabster (mainland) to Stromness (Orkney) and 12.5 hours for the journey from Aberdeen to Lerwick (Shetland). Northlink Ferries has a fleet of five ships. Ferries used on the Aberdeen route have on-board cinemas, and ferries on all routes have shops and restaurant facilities. Various sleeping facilities are provided on all routes as well. These include cabins, sleeping pods, and reclining chairs. All ferries have shower facilities.
