Hardware and Operating System Requirements

Pentium-class computer with a processor speed of 120 MHz or faster
Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP operating system
56 kbps modem or faster (recommended)
Valid email address
H.323-compliant Internet telephone software, such as Microsoft NetMeeting™ or CUseeMe Networks CU-SeeMe®
Javascript and cookies-enabled web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x or 5.x and Netscape Communicator/Navigator 4.x
Microphone and speakers or headset. Headset with microphone recommended to enhance sound clarity
Sound card
For video calls, H.323-compliant PC camera compatible with your Internet telephone software. Video calls can be received, but not made without a camera

AOL Users

Visitalk works best in AOL versions 4.0 or newer. For best results, use Internet Explorer instead of AOL's proprietary browser software.

Macintosh® Users

Currently, the Visitalk Connector software does not run on the Macintosh® platform. A Macintosh® version is under development

Firewalls

Many corporate firewalls are not configured to allow for H.323 video calls. Firewall manufacturers are making changes to address this issue. Check with your network administrator or ISP for verification.

Visitalk was a wonderful way for my parents to be a part of my daughter's first birthday party. We set up the computer in the kitchen, dialed in and put the camera on her. They got to see her open her presents. They felt like they were part of their granddaughter's birthday from 2000 miles away!
